Sharing, Saving and Printing Your Parenting Plan

Your parenting plan is automatically saved in the Custody X Change app. Pick from the options below when you're ready to share it, save it outside the app or print it.

To make changes to your document first, choose from the four ways to edit your parenting plan with Custody X Change.

Linking your lawyer's account

The best way to share your plan with a law professional is to link their Custody X Change account.

When you link with a professional account, the professional can view and edit your plan. They also get access to the rest of your account, including your calendars and journal.

To link:

  1. Click the user icon in the top right corner of the app, then select "account settings."

  2. Scroll down to the linked accounts section, and click where it says "edit."

  3. Select the "share" button under "legal professionals."

  4. Type in your professional's information, and send your invitation.

When he or she accepts your invite, the two accounts will be linked. The professional can also initiate the process.

To manage your linked accounts and notifications at any time, return to your account settings.

Saving your plan as a Word document

Saving your plan as a Word document allows you (and whomever you send it to) to make highly-specific edits to the layout and wording. This can be useful if your court has unique requirements for parenting plans.

To save as a Word doc:

  1. Click the "parenting plan" tab.

  2. Hit the "print preview" button in the top right corner.

  3. You'll be taken to a preview of how your document will look when printed. In the top right corner, click "save as Word document."

  4. When the download finishes, open the document with Microsoft Word or another text editor.

Saving your plan as a PDF

A PDF file looks the same regardless of your software, hardware or operating system. This makes PDF a great format to share your parenting plan in.

To save as a PDF:

  1. Follow the steps for saving as a Word document (above).

  2. When you get to the print preview page, click "save as PDF." A download will begin.

Printing your plan

To print:

  1. Follow the steps for saving as a Word document (above).

  2. When you get to the print preview page, click "print" in the top right corner.

  3. You'll see printing options based on the device you're using (like paper size, number of copies, etc.) Make sure the printer you want to use is selected, and hit "print."

Bring calm to co‑parenting. Agree on a schedule and plan. Be prepared with everything documented.
